Grading Submissions
Learn how to review and grade student exam submissions
Automatic vs Manual Grading
The system automatically grades multiple choice and true/false questions. Essay and short answer questions require manual review.
Access Submissions
Navigate to the Exams page and select the exam you want to grade. Click on "View Submissions" or "Grade" button.
Review Submission List
You'll see a list of all students who submitted the exam with their status:
✓ Graded
Fully graded and scored
⏳ Pending
Needs manual grading
○ Not Submitted
Student hasn't submitted
Open Individual Submission
Click on a student's name or "Grade" button to view their answers. You'll see:
- All questions and student's answers
- Auto-graded scores for objective questions
- Text responses requiring manual review
- Time taken to complete the exam
Grade Essay/Short Answer Questions
For questions requiring manual grading:
Read the Answer
Review the student's response carefully
Assign Points
Enter the score based on your rubric
Add Feedback (Optional)
Provide comments to help the student learn
Review Total Score
The system automatically calculates the total score by combining auto-graded and manually graded questions. Verify the final score is correct.
Save and Publish Grade
Click "Save Grade" or "Publish" to finalize the score. The student will be able to see their result and feedback.

- ✓ Save your work frequently while grading
- ✓ Double-check calculations before publishing final grades
Common Grading Scenarios
Late Submission
Apply your late penalty policy and add a note explaining the deduction.
Partial Credit
Award points for partially correct answers based on your rubric.
Grade Adjustment
You can modify grades after publishing if needed. Students will see the updated score.
